Horse Camps in Bend, OR

information

M&B Farms offers basic horsemanship and intermediate horse camps in Bend, OR, for ages 5-16. In addition to summer horse camps, we also offer seasonal camps on no-school days within the Bend-La Pine School District calendar. Working parents often appreciate this alternative to child care on no-school days and children get to spend their days off of school riding horses, socializing with other riders and learning the basics of horsemanship and care.

At our summer horse camps in Bend, OR, participants can expect to spend time riding, mounting, walking, grooming and trail riding. Gretchen provides knowledgeable instruction and evaluation of the horse and the rider. In addition to spending time working with the horses directly, we know how to have fun during horse camp. Your child will enjoy making art, sliding down the slip and slide and making memories that will last a lifetime.

When your child attends a summer or no-school day horse camp at M&B Farms, they benefit from a time well spent outdoors in Central Oregon. Imagine spending time with other children interested in horses, learning how to become more skilled riders and how to appreciate and care for these majestic creatures. Kids love petting the new baby goats on the farm and going for trail rides with Gretchen. We’ve created an environment where everyone feels welcome and a part of the M&B Farms family.

M&B Farms Horse Camp Safety Protocols

Campers will be in groups of ten, so we will assign each camper to a “Team”. Teams will be based on age and rider level.

Some camps will be limited in size. In order to meet the requirements of the State, we will be limiting some camp sizes to ensure kids have enough room to practice social distancing when possible.

Games and lunch may be modified to fit current State standards. Our intention is to make these camps fun and engaging for every child! That being said, we will comply with State rules to make sure kids remain safe at camp.

Anyone with a fever will have to forego camp. Refunds will be issued. We will ask parents to take temperatures at home and we will have forehead thermometers available for those who request a temperature check.

We’re going to practice social distancing in check-in and check-out lines. Thank you in advance for your patience during those times!

The State of Oregon is currently encouraging kids over age 2 to wear masks. We are not requiring masks, but we will have a limited number available for purchase if you’d like to have your child wear one. Sending them with a mask from home is fine as well.

Additionally:

  • Frequent hand-sanitizer and hand-washing breaks for kids and coaches.
  • Each Team will have their own set of equipment, which will be sanitized multiple times throughout the day.
  • All campers will be reminded to keep hands to themselves, not touch their face, eyes, etc.
  • All camp equipment will go through an additional deep-cleaning process at the end of each week.
  • In the past, we have offered to apply sunscreen to campers throughout the day. However, this year, in an effort to reduce physical contact between Helpers and Campers, we are unable to do so. We encourage parents to administer sunscreen to campers before drop-off so they are protected throughout the day.
  • Campers will be asked to bring a water bottle to camp, and it can be refilled with a hose or other non-contact method.
  • Frequent sanitizing and cleaning of restrooms throughout the day.
